Several interesting events are scheduled for the upcoming weeks at the Medical Center.

Wednesday, Jan. 4

Trauma, critical care expert to present surgery rounds


Dr. Jonathan Carroll, assistant professor of trauma and critical care, will give the Department of Surgery Grand Rounds presentation at 8 a.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 4, in classroom R354 (upper amphitheatre).

Arizona surgeon to explain curriculum evolution


Dr. Marlys Witte, professor of surgery and director of student research programs at the University of Arizona College of Medicine and secretary-general of the International Society of Lymphology, will give the Academic Development and Discover Seminar, “Evolution of the Curriculum: Medical Ignorance, What We Know We Don't Know, Don't Know We Don't Know, and Think We Know But Don't,” from noon-12:50 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 12, in classroom R354 (upper amphitheatre).

UAB nutritionist to digest obesity, metabolic disparities


Dr. Nikki Bush, assistant professor of nutrition at the University of Alabama at Birmingham, will present "Ethnic Disparities in Obesity and Metabolic Risk" from noon-1 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 12, in room CW308 of the Classroom Wing.

The seminar is sponsored by the Mississippi Center for Clinical and Translational Research and the Mississippi Center for Obesity Research,

Heart research center director to investigate gender equity


Dr. Merry Lindsey, professor of physiology and biophysics and director of the Mississippi Center for Heart Research, will give the UMMC Group on Women in Medicine and Science Seminar Series presentation, “The 3 Rs of Gender Equity,” from noon-1 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 27, in second-floor conference rooms A and B of the Norman C. Nelson Student Union.
